Solidarity Circles are member-driven spaces, where members educate and organize each other toward taking action. Solidarity circles are designed to address varying topics, questions, or aspects of our members’ lives that matter to us, and how we show up in solidarity with social justice movements. Goals of the circles are to:
- Build deep relationships and community around aspects of lives as donors that matter
- Offer political education to break habituated patterns of isolation, disconnection, silence, and power-hoarding
- Encourage members to show up for movements in bolder/deeper ways in their a) giving, and b) peer organizing
- Develop a more leaderful Solidaire
The first cohort of Solidarity Circles ran from late 2022 to the summer of 2023 and brought together 120 Solidaire members, or more than a third of our membership. The feedback from participants and facilitators taught us small groups allow for intimacy and honesty, learning thrives when we couple the personal with the political and our members prioritize action over abstraction.
We will announce the second round of Solidarity Circles in the coming months. Below are the topics we explored in the first round.
