Seeking Movement R&D Funding Nominations

Seeking Movement R&D Funding Nominations

UPDATE: We have extended our nominations deadline to October 20, 2016.

Solidaire is excited to launch another cycle of Movement R&D funding!

We have learned that movements can be sites of new exchange, experimentation, and breakthrough and new ideas and solutions can come from unexpected places. The “Movement R&D” Fund is designed to support these upstart, innovative experiments in movement-building.

Movement R&D grants are intended to make pooled resources available for projects and ideas that might otherwise have a difficult time accessing traditional funding because they are untested or otherwise considered too risky for more traditional grant programs. Our hope is these one-time seed funds can provide organizers a bit of breathing room to think outside of the box and test new ideas with flexible funding that doesn’t require specific deliverables or outcomes.

In order to be considered for funding, projects, start-ups or collaborations must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:

  • Must be rooted in, emerging from, or in direct relationship to, organizing, activism or mass mobilization efforts.
  • Must be led by, or in direct accountability to, a community most impacted by injustice — including but not limited to people of color, migrants, low income people, women, youth, queer, trans, or gender nonconforming people, or Indigenous peoples.
  • Less than 3 years old with a budget of less than $300,000 — although participating or sponsoring organizations may be older or larger.

If you meet the eligibility requirements and would like to submit a nomination on behalf of your own or another organization, please do so online here:
